Benxi – a hotspring area north of China, in the Liaoning province – is a pristine untouched location of forest and rivers.Underwater caves, natural hotsprings and even a functioning Japanese 1920s railroad brings a sense of mysticism to the area. The project consists of 2 phases of a singular hotel – one geared towards conference travellers and another for pure leisure and relaxation.
1 resort and 2 distinct types of buildings – the 2 phases are designed with the same brush of design language but with a very different canvas. One sits within a commercial hub – that caters to conventions and meetings but with an urban oasis theme; the other a more naturalistic resort at the edge of Taizi River with direct connections to it’s pristine surroundings. Both buildings uses natural materials of timber and local stone to ensure a sense of place.
