We approached the design of the hotel interiors with a strong contextual brush that evokes both nature and the cultural surrounds of an Island off Zhuhai.
A truly iconic resort setting – We looked at creating destinations within the destination, ensuring that each space has a unique and wow identity that evokes different layers of Zhuhai.
The island and site is rough and textural – white rough steep cliffs tumble into the turquoise sea below. The undulating textures of the site and architecture inspire the material use of the interiors, not only through application but also through reflection of the exterior inwards.
We also looked at the current hotel design and topography, and using the site itself, to engage with it using different means – creating vistas to the ocean through awesome moments, or even touching the sky. The interior planning and design of the hotel lends itself to embracing nature at it’s finest.
We want to evoke a sense of protection as we enter through different spaces and thresholds.
As if coming into a sanctuary of protection, each transition and space with it’s materiality cocoons the guest and suddenly opens up to grand views and vistas or peeks into areas beyond, creating a sense of excitement and a moment.
